About Yellowfin Tuna

Party boats target Yellowfin Tuna by trolling, chunking, and live-baiting along current edges, seamounts, and around floating debris. Trolling spreader bars, skirted ballyhoo, and cedar plugs covers water, while chunking with cut butterfish and squid draws fish to the boat.

The fight with a Yellowfin is a test of endurance. They make long, powerful runs and sound deep, pulling steadily with incredible stamina. Their warm-blooded metabolism gives them sustained power that few fish can match. Fish commonly run 30 to 80 pounds, with trophy fish exceeding 150 pounds.
