Independence Sportfishing

The Independence is a 112 by 32 foot long range boat that sails from Point Loma Sportfishing at 1403 Scott Street in San Diego. It has a steel hull, a 6,000 mile range, four large fish holds and a bait capacity of more than 700 scoops.

Trips run from 3 to 16 days down the Pacific side of Baja. They target yellowfin and bluefin tuna, yellowtail, wahoo, dorado and albacore, depending on the season and how far the boat goes. Most trips are limited loads of 24 to 32 anglers. Fares run from $1,595 for a 3 day trip to $8,000 for a 16 day trip, with a higher price for paying by credit card. Some trips are hosted by tackle companies and a few need an invitation code.
