About This Boat
The Royal Star runs limited load long range trips from San Diego, 3 to 15 days into Baja and Mexican waters for yellowfin and bluefin tuna, wahoo, yellowtail and dorado.
The Royal Star is a long range sportfishing boat based at 2838 Garrison Street in San Diego. Captains Tim Ekstrom, Randy Toussaint and Brian Sims run it, and the boat keeps its angler loads small.
Trips follow the seasons. Short summer runs of about 1.5 to 4 days fish U.S. and Mexican waters and the Baja islands, such as Guadalupe, San Benitos and Cedros, for albacore, bluefin, yellowfin, bigeye, dorado and yellowtail. Early summer trips in June and July head to Alijos Rocks for yellowfin and big yellowtail. Fall trips of 10 to 12 days work southern Baja banks for wahoo, yellowfin, dorado and pargo. Winter and spring voyages chase giant yellowfin as far as Hurricane Bank.
