Deep Sea Sportfishing books trips on five Westport boats from its office at 2319 Westhaven Drive, across from Float 6. The biggest is the El Matador, a 65 foot Coast Guard inspected boat that carries up to 22 anglers. The 53 foot Blitz is also Coast Guard inspected. The Ultimate is a 48 foot boat for 14 people, the Sundance is a 43 foot six person boat, and the Comeback is a 36 foot sport fisher. You buy a spot by the person.

The bottom fishing trip runs about 8 hours, mid March to mid October, for rockfish and lingcod. Salmon trips are also about 8 hours and are best in July, August and September. Both cost $253 on a big boat and $285 on a six person boat. Deep water bottom fishing and salmon combo trips run about 11 hours for $325 to $375. Halibut trips go up to 35 miles out and fish 600 feet or deeper for $400 to $475. From mid August through September, overnight albacore trips run 35 to 70 miles offshore for $790 to $980.
