Captain Monty Hawkins' reef fishing party boat from the Ocean City Fishing Center in Ocean City, MD, with full day sea bass trips capped at 18 anglers.
The Morning Star is a Coast Guard inspected party boat run by Captain Monty Hawkins, who has bottom fished off Ocean City for about 45 years. She sails from slip B-2 at the Ocean City Fishing Center on Inlet Isle Lane in West Ocean City. Monty also leads the Ocean City Reef Foundation, and the boat often helps build reefs on the way out.
Daily trips fish natural bottom, wrecks and artificial reefs, mostly for sea bass, with flounder and tautog in season. Weekday and Sunday trips run 7 AM to 3 PM, and Saturday trips run 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Special trips for seasonal species are announced by email and on Facebook. Summer sea bass trips sell out at 18 anglers, and winter tautog and special trips carry fewer.
