Dungeness Crab is one of the most commercially important crab species on the West Coast, found from Alaska to central California. Named after the port of Dungeness, Washington, these crabs are prized for their sweet, tender meat. Recreational crabbing is popular on party boats in the Pacific Northwest and Northern California, with most trips using crab pots or ring nets. The season typically runs from late fall through spring. Known scientifically as Metacarcinus magister.
