Garibaldi Charters

Garibaldi Charters works out of an office at 7th and Highway 101 in Garibaldi, Oregon, on Tillamook Bay. The fleet is the Alaska Sunrise and Norwester, both 43 foot Deltas that usually take about 18 anglers, and the 36 foot D&D, which takes about 14. A fourth boat, the 27 foot Quit Wishin', runs six person trips out of Astoria.

The light tackle bottom trip is the most popular. It runs 4 to 6 hours from March to September for black rockfish and lingcod, and a shorter afternoon version runs in summer. The deep reef trip goes up to 20 miles out for big lingcod, and in July and August a long leader trip fishes 10 to 15 miles out for yellowtail, widow, canary and bocaccio rockfish with a 10 fish limit. Halibut trips run 12 hours, 20 to 30 miles offshore, in May and June. Tuna trips run 12 hours and 20 to 50 miles out, usually August to mid September, and are often only 8 or 10 people. Crab pots go out on most bottom trips when conditions allow. From Astoria, open party halibut and Buoy 10 salmon trips are also offered.
