Head boat fishing from Rudee Inlet in Virginia Beach, from half day croaker trips toward the Chesapeake Bay to 17 hour deep drops for tilefish and sea bass.
Rudee Tours sails from Rudee Inlet at the Virginia Beach Fishing Center, 200 Winston Salem Avenue. The main fishing boat is the Rudee Angler, a 90 by 22 foot head boat. The 75 foot Rudee Mariner and Rudee Whaler also fish, and the fleet runs dolphin and whale cruises too.
In summer, 4 hour half day trips and 3.5 hour night trips head toward the Chesapeake Bay for croakers, spot, seatrout and small sharks. In spring and fall, 6 hour trips fish 12 to 20 miles out for tautog and then black sea bass and triggerfish. Nine hour full day trips run 30 miles out for sea bass. From May through October the 17 hour deep drop goes up to 70 miles offshore for blueline and golden tilefish, blackbelly rosefish and grouper, and winter brings 12 hour sea bass trips.
