About Swordfish
A growing number of party boats offer daytime swordfishing trips, deep-dropping baits to depths of 1,000 to 2,000 feet where Swordfish feed during daylight hours. Rigged squid, belly strips, and large baits on specialized deep-drop rigs are used with electric reels. Getting a bite from a Swordfish is an event that gets everyone on deck excited.
The fight with a Swordfish is unforgettable. They make powerful runs, sound deep, and use their broad, flat bill and body to create tremendous resistance. Fish commonly run 50 to 150 pounds, with trophy fish exceeding 300 pounds. Landing a Swordfish is one of the ultimate achievements in party boat fishing.
