Striped Bass Fishing in Connecticut

Each spring, massive schools push north through the Sound, and they return south again in the fall, giving Connecticut anglers two distinct peak seasons.

The Race and Plum Gut at the eastern end of the Sound are legendary striper grounds where powerful currents funnel baitfish into tight areas and create ideal feeding conditions for big bass. Party boats work these rips with live bunker, diamond jigs, and trolled umbrella rigs. The current in these areas can be intense, so heavier tackle and sinkers are often necessary to stay in the zone.
