Sunbeam Fleet

The Sunbeam Fleet sails from Captain John's Sport Fishing Center at 15 1st Street in Waterford, Connecticut. The family business is run by its third and fourth generations. Public trips go out on the 70 foot Sunbeam VII, which takes up to 40 anglers. The 42 foot Sunbeam VI and The Grumpa handle smaller private charters.

The open boat schedule changes through the year. Half day blues and bass trips run 5 to 5.5 hours from mid May to early October. Sunset striper trips run Monday and Friday evenings in summer. There are 7 hour porgy trips in spring and fall, a 9 hour Wednesday trip for fluke, striped bass and bottom fish, half day bottom trips on Mondays and Thursdays in summer, and 7 hour sea bass trips in September. Blackfish trips run from mid October into late November. A 3 hour kids trip runs Thursdays in summer, and adults must come along.
