Sharpnose Shark Fishing Charters

The Atlantic Sharpnose Shark is one of the most commonly encountered shark species on party boat and headboat trips along the Gulf Coast and southeastern Atlantic seaboard. These compact, fast-swimming sharks typically measure 2 to 4 feet in length and are readily identified by their streamlined body, long pointed snout, and small black-edged dorsal fin.

Sharpnose Sharks are year-round residents in warm coastal waters, frequenting bays, estuaries, and nearshore reefs where party boats commonly fish. They are opportunistic feeders that readily take cut bait, squid, and live bait intended for other species, making them a frequent catch on bottom fishing trips.

While not a primary target species, Sharpnose Sharks provide exciting action, especially for young or novice anglers on their first party boat trip. Their aggressive strikes and spirited runs on light tackle make them a memorable catch. They are also one of the few shark species commonly kept for the table, with firm white meat that is excellent when soaked in milk and grilled or fried.
